1. Who We Are

CrashCompass ("we," "our," or "the app") is a mobile application designed to help users document traffic accidents and traffic tickets for personal record keeping purposes. CrashCompass is operated by CrashCompass and can be reached at legal@crashcompass.app.

2. Information We Collect

CrashCompass is designed with privacy as its foundation. The app collects the following information solely for the purpose of generating your personal incident report:

• Location data — GPS coordinates at the time of the incident, captured automatically when you open the app at an accident or traffic stop scene
• Photos and videos — Images of vehicles, damage, documents, and the scene that you choose to capture within the app
• Voice recordings — Audio recordings you make to describe what happened, which are transcribed using Whisper AI
• Incident details — Information you enter manually including other party details, witness contacts, officer information, and injury descriptions
• Pain tracking data — Daily pain ratings and body map selections you enter during follow-up check-ins
• Ticket information — Citation details, violation codes, and court dates you enter or that are captured via camera scan

3. How We Use Your Information

All information collected by CrashCompass is used solely to:

• Generate your personal incident report or ticket report
• Allow you to share your report via email or device sharing features
• Schedule local deadline reminders on your device
• Display your daily pain check-in history within the app

We do not use your information for advertising, analytics, or any commercial purpose beyond generating your personal report.

4. Data Storage

All data collected by CrashCompass is stored locally on your device using your phone's secure storage. We do not transmit your personal incident data to any server. Your data remains on your device until you delete the app or clear the app's data.

When you choose to email or share your report, that transmission is handled by your device's native email or sharing system — not by CrashCompass servers.

5. Third-Party Services

CrashCompass uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data:

• OpenAI Whisper API — Used to transcribe voice recordings you make within the app. Audio is sent to OpenAI's servers for transcription and is subject to OpenAI's privacy policy at openai.com/privacy
• Google Places API — Used to show nearby attorneys and traffic schools based on your location. Location queries are subject to Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy
• Traffic101 — If you choose to enroll in traffic school through Traffic101 via the app, you will be directed to their website. CrashCompass earns a referral commission on enrollments. Traffic101's privacy policy applies to any information you provide to them directly

6. Affiliate Disclosure

CrashCompass participates in affiliate programs with traffic school providers. When you click through to a partner traffic school and complete an enrollment, CrashCompass may earn a commission. This does not affect the price you pay. We only recommend services we believe are genuinely useful to our users.

7. Location Data

CrashCompass requests access to your device's location services to automatically capture the GPS coordinates of your accident or traffic stop. Location data is captured once when you begin an incident report and is stored locally on your device as part of your report. We do not track your location continuously or outside of incident documentation.

8. Camera and Microphone Access

CrashCompass requests access to your device's camera and microphone to allow you to photograph incident evidence and record voice statements. These permissions are used only when you actively choose to capture photos or make a recording within the app. We do not access your camera or microphone at any other time.

9. Children's Privacy

CrashCompass is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the app, please contact us at legal@crashcompass.app.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. CrashCompass does not sell personal information. Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete your data at any time by clearing the app's data in your device settings or by uninstalling the app.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
